Designed and handcrafted by Rafael Calvo, the Royal Dresser features Pecky Cypress, different reclaimed woods, and gold leaf. The wood is bleached to give it a lighter tone and finished with a non-toxic oil finish. The Royal Dresser has a timeless allure and blurs the line between art and functional decor. The unique, organic texture appearance of the Pecky Cypress results from the tree being attacked by a natural fungus that creates hollow tubes running vertically throughout the tree's heart while it is alive; once the tree is harvested, the pecking remains stable. These oblong holes give it a character that differentiates it from any other wood. Pecky Cypress is salvaged from the riverbeds and is very rare. It is highly durable and is resistant to rot and insects. As with all of Rafael’s pieces, this is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted, sustainable piece; no two pieces of furniture are the same.
